Handheld Arts is a virtual space inspired by Waldorf curriculum, methods, and materials. We are here to support artists and teachers with experiences that elevate the soul and advance artistic skills.
Today I fully embrace my life as an artist. Artistry is a skill. It is an ability to find solutions and to create order and beauty where once there was none.
I have spent too many years thinking I had to be one thing or another: teacher, painter, organizational assistant, artist, craftsperson, creator. I came to realize I don't have to choose. I can flow from one to the other, depending on the situation and the needs of those I care for and support.
My personal mission is to cultivate the creative core of my being, and through this work awaken the creator within you.
Through the practice of art making, by teaching workshops, offering training and being a mentor to others, I hope to fulfill that mission.
You may not be sure about what you need right now. We offer free videos for you to get to know Kelly and her teaching style. You are encouraged to visit and subscribe to her YouTube page, free of charge.
You do not need to be an "artist" to cultivate creativity in yourself and in the children that you teach. It just takes a little practice.
Join the Handheld Arts community to make space for creativity and be free to play with color, crayons, paint and paper.
Let's work together to expand the limits of your artistic abilities by trying new techniques and experimenting with new approaches.
You know what skills you need to develop right now and are here to take short courses that give you a boost, redirect your attention, or enliven your inspiration. These courses are pre-recorded and are available for you to watch at your convenience. They are not timed and do not expire.
Join online classes to develop your artistry, gain more confidence and learn new skills that will help you to teach with greater ease.
Working with a two camera set-up, Kelly provides both personal interaction and demonstrations of specific material preparation and artistic techniques. Participants are encouraged to work at home in their own space and with their own materials.
You can learn through scheduled Zoom classes or purchase pre-recorded lessons.
When you make time for your own creative activity, you feel more connected to the creativity that lives in your students. Your teaching improves. Join us for monthly gatherings to make art and talk about teaching.
